Arrest Made in Frederick Douglass Court Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in a homicide that occurred in Southeast.   

On Friday, October 9, 2026, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 1900 block of Frederick Douglass Court, Southeast, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival officers located an adult female victim, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and despite all lifesaving efforts the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. 

MPD Makes Arrest in Carrollsburg Place Assault

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces an arrest made in a stabbing that occurred in Southwest.

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, at approximately 8:13 p.m., First District officers responded to the 1200 block of Carrollsburg Place, Southwest, for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, an adult female was located conscious and breathing, suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

MPD Makes Arrest in Multiple Retail Thefts and Seeks Remaining Persons of Interest

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest and is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying additional persons of interest involved in multiple retail thefts in Northwest.

Detectives were able to identify one of the persons of interest who was involved in all four retail theft offenses. On Thursday, October 29, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court pre-petition custody order, a 17-year-old juvenile female of Northeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with four counts of Theft One. 

MPD Makes Arrest in Northwest Assault

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces an arrest made in a stabbing that occurred in Northwest.

On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at approximately 10:51 a.m., Third District officers responded to the 1300 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest, for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male, conscious and breathing, suffering from stab wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

MPD Investigating Georgia Avenue Homicide

Date Released: 

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Northwest.

On Thursday, October 29, 2026, at approximately 4:08 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 3600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male unconscious and not breathing, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where, despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased.

MPD Arrests Suspect in New York Avenue Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in Northwest.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at approximately 10:38 p.m., Third District officers responded to the report of gunshots in the unit block of New York Avenue, Northwest. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded and, after finding no signs consistent with life, pronounced the man dead on scene.

The decedent has been identified as 18-year-old Darron Venable of Southeast, DC.
