TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Race4Respect 5k and Kid’s Dash

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the Race4Respeck 5k and Kid’s Dash will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

 

The following streets will be closed and posted as Emergency No Parking for the event from approximately 2:00 am to 1:00 pm:

 

  • 400 block of 13th Street, NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 9th and 14th Street, NW
  • 12th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
  • 11th Street, NW between E Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • 10th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW

 

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and closed from approximately 8:30 am to 11:00 am:

 

RACE ROUTE:

 

  • START: Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 13th Streets, NW
  • East on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • South on 3rd Street, NW
  • West on Independence Avenue, SW
  • U-turn at 7th Street, SW reverse direction to travel east on Independence Avenue
  • South on 4th Street, SW
  • East on D Street, SW
  • North on 3rd Street, SW
  • West on Constitution Avenue, NW and merge onto Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • West on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the Start/Finish line

 

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

 

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

 

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
