Traffic Advisory: 2019 Lawyers Have Heart 10K/5K/Fun Run

The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public that the 2019 Lawyers Have Heart 10K/5K/Fun Run is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019. In order to facilitate this event, there will be no vehicular traffic allowed along the route of runners.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking for the start/finish line from approximately 1:00 am to 11:00 am and closed from approximately 4:00 am to 11:00 am:

  • 2900 to 3300 blocks of K Street, NW

 

The following streets will be closed and posted as Emergency No Parking for the race from approximately 4:00 am to 11:00 am:

  • Start: K Street at 30th Street, NW
  • Travel Eastbound on K Street to 27th Street, NW
  • Make a left onto Whitehurst Freeway toward M Street, NW
  • Turn Left onto M Street/Canal Road, NW
  • U-turn at 1st traffic light back onto Whitehurst Freeway toward 27th Street, NW
  • Bear right on ramp toward Route 66/Potomac River Freeway
  • Proceed Southbound on Potomac River Freeway to U-turn (across from volleyball courts)
  • Take ramp towards E Street Expressway - Eastbound (Westbound E Street lanes remain open/accessible for emergency vehicles.)
  • Continue on E Street Expressway towards 17th Street, NW
  • Make a U-turn on E Street just before 17th Street, NW
  • Left turn on 18th Street to Virginia Avenue, NW
  • Right turn on Virginia Avenue to 27th Street, NW – Northwest Direction (East bound lanes remain open/accessible for emergency vehicles.)
  • Turn Right onto 27th Street, NW
  • Turn Left onto K Street towards Finish Line (underneath Whitehurst Freeway Overpass)
  • FINISH: K Street between 31st Street and Wisconsin Avenue, NW

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the entire parade route and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked along the route and in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticked and towed.

 

Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events. These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.
