On Thursday, October 31, 2019, the annual Halloween Celebrations in Georgetown will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be traffic restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration:
The following streets will have traffic restrictions which will limit vehicular access from turning onto side streets from approximately 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2019, until 3:00 am on Friday, November 1, 2019:
Wisconsin Avenue, NW from K Street, NW to O Street, NW
M Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the Key Bridge
The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking for the event from approximately 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2019, until 6:00 am on Friday, November 1, 2019:
1000 – 1300 blocks of Wisconsin Avenue, NW
M Street, NW, from 25th Street to the Key Bridge
The following streets will be closed, except for local traffic, from approximately 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2019, until 3:00 am on Friday, November 1, 2019:
27th Street, NW from N Street South to Olive Street, NW
28th Street, NW from N Street South to Pennsylvania Ave, NW
29th Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW
30th Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW
31st Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW
Potomac Street from N Street South to M Street, NW
“Local Traffic” consists of residents, business owners, and employees who will be allowed to access residences and businesses in this area. There will be no parade in association with these events.
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
The public should expect parking restrictions along the aforementioned streets and should be guided by posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic is anticipated.
