Homicide: 1300 Block of Congress Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, October 17, 2022, in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast.

 

At approximately 8:32 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located two adult male victims, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, one of the victims remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. A short time later, a third adult male victim was located at an area hospital who was receiving treatment for injuries sustained from gunshot wounds.

 

The decedents have been identified as 19-year-old Reginald Cooper and 19-year-old Davonte Berkley, both of District Heights, MD.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000, for each homicide, bringing the total reward amount up to $50,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this offense.
