Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced several arrests in recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.
Third District:
- On Saturday, August 31, 2019, a 13-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, DC, and a 14 year-old juvenile male, of Northwest, DC, were arrested for an Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed (Brick) offense that occurred on Saturday, August 31, 2019, in the 2900 block of 11th Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-154-295
- At approximately 12:05 am, two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects fled the scene without obtaining any property.
- On Thursday, September 5, 2019, a 16-year-old juvenile female, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that occurred on Thursday, September 5, 2019, in the 1600 block of Park Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-157-886
- At approximately 5:42 pm, two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and took the victim’s property. One of the suspects was apprehended by responding officers. This case remains under investigation.
Fourth District:
- On Friday, September 6, 2019, 18 year old Luis Carranza-Andrade, of Northwest, DC, and 19 year old Brenda Hernandez, of no fixed address, were arrested for an Assault with the Intent to Commit Robbery While Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, September 2, 2019, in the 4700 block of South Dakota Avenue, Northeast. - At approximately 9:00 pm, two suspects were riding in a vehicle for hire at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects fled the scene without obtaining any property.
Sixth District:
- On Saturday, August 31, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 39 year-old Albert Smith, of Capitol Heights, MD, was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that occurred on Monday, June 17, 2019, in the 800 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-105-947.
- At approximately 9:42 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim and took the victim’s property. The suspect then fled the scene.
- On Monday, September 2, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 19 year-old Devin Smothers, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an Armed Carjacking offense that occurred on Monday, September 2, 2019, in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-155-926.
- At approximately 5:19 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a weapon and assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
- On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 40 year-old James Poland, of no fixed address, was arrested for an Unarmed Carjacking offense that occurred on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the 300 block of Division Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-154-071.
- At approximately 5:53 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
