History of the Henry J. Daly Building

Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Headquarters was located in the Henry J. Daly building until 2023, when MPD offices were moved to 441 4th Street, NW, to accommodate renovations. Located at 300 Indiana Avenue, NW, the Henry J. Daly building is named for Sergeant Henry J. Daly, a 28-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department who was killed November 22, 1994, by an armed intruder in that very building. In a fitting tribute to this devoted homicide sergeant, the Council of the District of Columbia enacted DC Law 11-120, designating the building at 300 Indiana Avenue, NW, as the Henry J. Daly Building.
