The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of the suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in Northwest.
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at approximately 7:58 p.m., Second District officers responded to the 2500 block of 41st Street, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded, and after finding no signs consistent with life, the man was pronounced dead on scene.
The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Bobby Lee Cannon, of Southeast, D.C.
Second District officers located and detained the suspect at the scene. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 21-year-old Jeremiah Greene, of Alexandria, Virginia, was placed under arrest and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed. Detectives quickly identified that the incident had domestic overtones, with all parties known to each other.
