January 27, 2019 to February 3, 2020

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, January 27, 2020, through Monday, February 3, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 32 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Monday, January 27, 2020

  • A FN 57 5.7mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2300 block of Washington Place, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Sean Demetrius Alston, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed.   • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun and a Semi-Automatic .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 1700 block of 7th Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Dangelo Holley, of Northwest, D.C., 21-year-old Davon Dabney, of Northwest, D.C., and 20-year-old Tyree Marshall, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Alter ID Marks of a Weapon, and Resisting Arrest.   • A Smith & Wesson Compact USP .40 caliber handgun and a “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 700 block of Madison Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-016-941
  • A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 43-year-old Adrian Dominick Williams, of Northwest, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction of Property, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession. Wednesday, January 29, 2020

  • A Raven Arms MP25 .25 caliber handgun and a Polymer 80 Ink Corporation handgun were recovered in the 700 block of Newton Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession with an Intent to Distribute Marijuana.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P 40C .40 caliber handgun with laser sight (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of L’Enfant Square, Southeast. CCN: 20-017-498

  • A Taurus PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun and a “Ghost Gun” .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 1600 block of Independence Avenue, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 31-year-old Delante Jenkins, of Southeast, D.C., 49-year-old Joseph Patrick Proctor, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., and 36-year-old Emanuel Taylor, of Lanham, MD, and for Bench Warrant, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus G2S 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 26-year-old Briana Benjamin, of Northeast, D.C., and 46-year-old Theodore Moses Streets, III, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Entry.   • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5300 block of Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 55-year-old Clifton Dillard, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Tampering with Physical Evidence. CCN: 20-018-457
  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .45 caliber handgun, a Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun, and a “Ghost Gun”.223 caliber assault rifle (all pictured below) were recovered in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Michael Shoremkun, of Laurel, MD, 21-year-old Emmanuel Uwailf, of no fixed address, and 21-year-old Tylon Smith, of Largo, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Allow Operation with Improper Tags, Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.   • A Crossman Wildcat .177mm caliber BB gun and a Sig Sauer P365 .177mm caliber BB gun were recovered in the 1500 block of Butler Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-018-337

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5000 block of H Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Keith Sewell, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Carrying a Pistol without a License – Gun free Zone, Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Felon in Possession.   • A 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Vedo-Dejuan Charles Hall, of Southeast, D.C., for Speeding, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   • A Smith & Wesson 459 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of A Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old George David Cook, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.   • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Jamal Gassaway, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun and a Ruger Super Redhawk Magnum .44 caliber revolver were recovered in the 100 block of Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 32-year-old Velante Campbell, of Southeast, D.C., 23-year-old Tawayne Weaver, of Northeast, D.C., and 27-year-old Aaron Johnson, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, National Firearms Act, Receiving Stolen Property, and Felon in Possession.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P22 .22 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4500 block of Benning Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Davon Thompson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Black Ops USA .177 caliber BB gun was recovered in the 3200 block of 15th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 55-year-old Anthony Wendell Mitchell, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of a BB gun and Possession of a Controlled Substance. CCN: 20-020-210

 

Monday, February 3, 2020

  • A .45 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of Wayne Place, Southeast. CCN: 20-020-731

  • A Bersa BP9cc 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2700 block Martin Luther King, Jr. Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Anthony Darnell May, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 20-020-641

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of Yuma Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-020-767

  • A Smith & Wesson 659 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old William Bass, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Bench Warrant. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
