Traffic Fatality: Intersection of South Capitol Street and Firth Sterling Avenue, Southeast

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Sunday, April 21, 2019, in the intersection of South Capitol Street and Firth Sterling Avenue, Southeast.

 

At approximately 3:51 am, the operator of a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound on South Capitol Street, Southwest, approaching Firth Sterling Avenue, Southeast. The Malibu crossed the intersection of Firth Sterling Avenue, Southeast, and struck a traffic signal. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim an area hospital. On Sunday, May 5, 2019, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent has been identified as 34-year-old Latoya Markee Anderson, of Southeast, DC.
