Person of Interest Sought in a Homicide:

4800 Block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest

 

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred in the 4800 block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest, on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

 

At approximately 1:59 am, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported one victim to an area hospital in grave condition. The second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The decedent was identified as 24 year-old Juan Carlos Osorio-Herrera, of Northwest, DC.

 

The hospitalized victim has succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as 23-year-old David Santiago Amaya-Medrano, of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 for each victim to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
