(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, September 2, 2019, through Monday, September 9, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 48 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

  • A Knight Muzzleloader .50 caliber rifle was recovered in the 3600 block of 12th Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-156-521
  • A Taurus .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-156-724
  • An ER2 BB gun was recovered in the 4300 block of Wheeler Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-156-630

  • A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Lanique Ashawn Davis, of Southeast, D.C., 26-year-old Daris Joshua, of Southeast, D.C., and 25-year-old Nakia Michelle Pearson, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Second Degree Cruelty to Children Grave Risk, Parole Violation, and Felon in Possession.   • A Sig Sauer P938 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of 8th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Marquis Butler, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Distribution of a Control Substance, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Entry.   • A Llama Minima .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of Jay Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Ranari Dixon, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-157-129

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 800 block of 19th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Justin Govan Willis, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   • An Umarex 40XP 4.5mm BB gun, a Glock 19 BB gun, a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun (pictured below), and a Taurus 8946 .38 caliber revolver (pictured below) were recovered in the 4200 block of Edson Place, Northeast. CCN: 19-157-377

  • A Rohm RG10 .22 caliber revolver was recovered in the 1800 block of Wiltberger Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Marquel Watkins, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Eddie Williams, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Violation of a Gun Free Zone.   • A SCCY 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Spring Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-157-721
  • A Taurus Millennium PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun with laser sight was recovered in the 500 block of Parkland Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-158-055
  • A Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3300 block of C Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-158-127

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun, a Springfield Armory XD9 9mm caliber handgun, a Sig Sauer P320 .40 caliber handgun, a Taurus PT738 .380 caliber handgun, and an I.O. Inc. Shadow AR 15 rifle (all pictured below) were recovered in the 3700 block of Garfield Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 18-year-old Kevion Kelief Robertson, of Northeast, D.C., and 18-year-old Amira Stevenson, of Northwest, D.C., for Felon in Possession and Possession with the Intent to Distribute while Armed.   • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3700 block of 9th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Erick Moreno, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Contempt, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Ruger SR9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3700 block of 9th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Exson Leonel Cedillos, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Distribution of Marijuana while Armed, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver and a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1900 block of 14th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 44-year-old Keith Allen Daniels, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Consumption of Marijuana in a Public Space Prohibited, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2300 block of Washington Place, Northeast. The following person arrested: 41-year-old Nolan Alfonso Baskin, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Receiving Stolen Property. CCN: 19-158-612
  • A Sig Sauer P320 .177 caliber BB gun was recovered in the 1600 block of Lamont Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Jose Martin Miranda Franco, of Alexandria, VA, for Possession of a BB gun and Threats to Do Bodily Harm. CCN: 19-158-650

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2700 block of Langston Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Curtis Davon Aiken, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Beretta 9000S .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of 7th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Robbery, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Mossberg 500A 12GA gauge shotgun, a Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm caliber handgun, a Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40 caliber handgun, and a Hi-Point RIF6 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 700 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Kenneth Richardson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction of Property, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Ruger P94 .40mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Anthony Develle Davis, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Resisting Arrest. CCN: 19-159-515
  • A Guardian .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 1400 block of Congress Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-159-503
  • A Taurus PT609 Pro 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Amistad Djimon Veney, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. CCN: 19-159-975

  • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4900 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Krystal M. Henson, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Cruelty to Children.   • A FN FNS-40C .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2500 block of 11th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Suneverlasting Hall, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 19-160-697
  • A Glock 19 Gen4 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Rodney Bernard Williams, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
