Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District.  In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, December 19, 2022, through Monday, December 26, 2022, MPD detectives and officers recovered 24 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Monday, December 19, 2022

  • A Jackal Compact 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Gallatin Street, Northeast.  CCN: 22-184-256

 

  • A Taurus Winchester 38 Special .38 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Barnaby Terrace, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Bryant Wilson of Southeast, DC, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 22-184-420

 

Tuesday, December 20, 2022

  • A Davis Industries P-380 380 ACP caliber handgun and a Berretta .25 caliber handgun were recovered in the 4200 block of 7th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Shannon Keys of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, Tampering of a GPS Device, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 22-185-026

 

  • A “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of H Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 53-year-old Larry Hall, Jr. of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Carrying a Pistol without a License.  CCN: 22-185-075

 

Wednesday, December 21, 2022

  • A Smith and Wesson SD40 VE .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: A 16-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, DC, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed. CCN: 22-185-330

 

 

  • A Sig Sauer P365 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5200 block of 3rd Street, Northeast.  The following persons were arrested: 36-year-old Rebecca Green of Dumfries, VA, and 28-year-old Ashleigh Cash of Woodbridge, VA, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Entry. CCN: 22-185-458

 

  • A Sig Sauer P365 9mm handgun was recovered in the 1800 block of New Jersey Avenue, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Carlos Wilson of Southeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Felon in Possession, and Counterfeit Tags.  CCN: 22-185-507

 

  • A Glock 19 9mm handgun and a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.  The following persons were arrested: 27-year-old Travon Carter of Northwest, DC, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Receiving Stolen Property, and 19-year-old Milton Milling of Northwest, DC, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 22-185-579

  • A Glock 30s .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 40-year-old Kelsey Pixley of Washington, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Entry.  CCN: 22-186-093

 

  • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of M Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Dhaquan Gore of Northeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.  CCN: 22-186-175

 

Friday, December 23, 2022

  • A Starr Arms 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Vincent Williams of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Assault with Intent to Rob. CCN: 22-186-356

 

  • A Berretta APX 9mm handgun was recovered in the 1000 block of K Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Randale Patterson of Philadelphia, PA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 22-186-555

 

Saturday, December 24, 2022

  • A Glock 48 9mm caliber handgun and a Taurus G3C 9mm handgun were recovered in the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest.  The following persons were arrested: 24-year-old Marquis Jones and 22-year-old male Malik Jones, both of Fort Washington, MD, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 22-186-746

 

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2100 block of Queens Chapel Road, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Joshua Acevero, of Lanham, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.  CCN: 22-186-770

 

  • A “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 64-year-old Herman Johnson of Southeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed CCN: 22-186-778

 

  • A Taurus PT945 .45 caliber handgun was recovered at the intersection of Southern Avenue and Valley Terrace, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Charles Yoor of Middle River, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Manufacture or Possessing with Intent To Manufacture a Controlled Substance, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Permit. CCN: 22-187-125

 

  • A J Zigana PX-9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3200 block of O Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Pierson Williams of Mount Rainier, MD, for Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of A Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of a Controlled Substance. CCN: 22-187-345

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from D.C. streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information can be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. In an effort to incentivize community members to assist law enforcement, any tip information, to include anonymous tips, will be rewarded up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest of an individual and seizure of an illegal gun.
