MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: July 1, 2019 to July 8, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, July 1, 2019, through Monday, July 8, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 38 firearms in the District of Columbia.

• A Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of 34^th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 28-year-old Amber Latesha Pride, of Southeast, D.C., 51-year-old James Casey Melvin, of Southeast, D.C., 50-year-old Joseph Lee Melvin, of Northeast, D.C., 49-year-old Erika Glenita Thompson, of no fixed address, and 50-year-old Donnell Edward Evans, of no fixed address, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Bench Warrant, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance. • A Smith & Wesson Springfield .40 caliber revolver was recovered in the 3300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Christopher Norece Mitchell, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-115-376

 

• A Smith & Wesson 38 Special .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 6000 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 19-115-429

 

• A SCCY CPX2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5500 block of Bass Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Jazmine Edwards, of Roanoke Rapid, NC, for Threats to Bodily Harm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Condon Terrace, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 40-year-old Anthony Hager, of Hyattsville, MD, 27-year-old John F. Prince, of Southeast, D.C., and 31-year-old Cordel Price, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Probation Violation, Fugitive from Justice, and Felon in Possession. • A Taurus Millennium G2PT111 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1000 block of Monroe Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Mohamed Hussein-Ali, of Reston, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm. Wednesday, July 3, 2019

• An FNS-9C 9mm caliber handgun, a Corgin L380 .380 caliber, a Kahr P40 .40 caliber handgun, and a Beretta PX4 Storm BB gun were recovered in the 700 block of Fairmont Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Dorsey Andrew Spriggs, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property. • A Smith & Wesson SD40 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3400 block of 22^nd Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-116-335

• A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of 30^th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Marquel Breonte Hill, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Ruger 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Ogden Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Jason Villabos-Villatoro, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-116-295

 

Thursday, July 4, 2019

• A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4900 block of Foote Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 42-year-old Dartanyone Simmons, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 19 Gen5 9mm caliber handgun and a Cobray M11 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1000 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Aaron Demetrius Vance, of Roanoke, VA, for Simple Assault, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Firearms Possessed by Convicted Felons, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Taurus PT140 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of 4^th Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-117-050

 

• A Llama Minimax .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of O Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 48-year-old Shun Micgale Patrick, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 19-116-988

 

• A Spyder MRX .68 caliber AR-15 style BB gun, a Tippmann 98 Custom paintball rifle, and a Cronus paintball rifle were recovered in the 4600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue, Southwest. The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Christian Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., 20-year-old Derrick Johnson, of Northeast, D.C., 18-year-old Ezail Anthony Thomas, of Southeast, D.C., and 18-year-old Desean Young, of Southeast, D.C., of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of a BB gun and Simple Assault. • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of 37th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Malik Wilkins, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Glenn Deyalonte Dolford, of Lanham, MD, for Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Pistol without a License. • A Smith & Wesson SW40VE .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1800 block of Perry Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Joseph Robinson, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. • A Llama Max-1 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 6500 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Jesus Guadalupe Manzo, of Riverdale, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Taurus Millennium PT140 GT .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Sumner Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: a 17-year-old Juvenile Male, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun and an SKS 7.62 caliber rifle were recovered in the 1700 block of 16^th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: a 15-year-old Juvenile Male, of Southeast, D.C., and a 16-year-old Juvenile Male, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Deanie Derrel Ashton, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. Monday, July 8, 2019

• A Taurus PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 22-year-old Antonio Cox, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Consumption of Marijuana in a Public Space, Resisting Arrest, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 19-119-527

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
