MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:

December 9, 2019 to December 16, 2019

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, December 9, 2019, through Monday, December 16, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 50 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, December 10, 2019

  • A Marlin 60 .22 caliber rifle, a Western Auto .40 gauge pump shotgun, a Charter Arms .32 caliber revolver, a BKA 98 .38 caliber revolver, and a Crossman 38C BB gun were recovered in the 4300 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 19-220-071
  • A Smith & Wesson M&P P15 5.56 caliber assault rifle and a Smith & Wesson SW40VE .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 2900 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Carl Courtney, of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside of Home or Business, and Presence in a Motor Vehicle Containing a Firearm.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .38 caliber revolver, a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm caliber handgun, and a Smith & Wesson Performance Center .44 caliber revolver were recovered in the 1500 block of 18th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Anthony Earl Chiles, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   • A CDM .22 caliber revolver (pictured below) was recovered in the 5000 block of Queens Stroll Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-220-742

  • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 600 block of Mellon Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Randolph Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Nadir Muhammad Mahdi, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Knowingly with Intent to Distribute 500 gram/more Mixture Containing Cocaine. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Anthony Treyvon Stevenson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Receiving Stolen Property. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Ta-quan Deval Kuhn, of Alexandria, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Sig Sauer Mosquito .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4200 block of Blaine Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 29-year-old Kasheon Kenny Mitchell, of Southeast, D.C., and 31-year-old Antoin Gaskins, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Receiving Stolen Property, Carrying a Pistol without License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Failure to Appear, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Vincent Robison, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1800 block of 14th Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 22-year-old Saeed Salem, of Fairfax, VA, and 22-year-old Maguel Gonzalez-Delcid, of Falls Church, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. King, of Southwest, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • An assault rifle “Ghost Gun” was recovered in the 300 block of Hawaii Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Devin Pollard, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with Intent to Kill, Assault on a Police Officer, Destruction of Property, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession, National Firearms Act, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.   • A Taurus PT511 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of M Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Diante Brewer, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Police Officer, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • A Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5000 block of H Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 56-year-old Antonio Kevin Edwards, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession.   • A Cugir TTC 7.62x25mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.   • A .40 caliber Semiautomatic “Ghost Gun”, a Ruger SR9c 9mm caliber handgun, and a Sig Sauer P230 9mm caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 52-year-old Samantha Anderson, of Southwest, D.C., and 33-year-old Andre Lee, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Distribute, Felon in Possession, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. The following people were arrested: 33-year-old Stevon Tomlinson, of no fixed address, 28-year-old Khadetria Bush, of Southeast, D.C., and 24-year-old Frederick Daniel Mack, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Parole Violation, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Cruelty to Children, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Jamaal Antonio Rivera, of Accokeek, MD, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, and False Representation of Authority to Practice.   • A Glock 23 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Avery Alexander Bost, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Alter ID Marks of a Weapon, No Permit, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed.   • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in 1500 Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old David Bailey, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Carrying a Pistol without a License in a Gun Free Zone. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
