(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, April 27, 2020, through Monday, May 4, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 32 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, April 28, 2020

• A Glock 26 Gen4 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of Riggs Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Jonathan Vazquez, of Hyattsville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Theft Second Degree. CCN: 20-064-812

 

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

• A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 300 block of 63^rd Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Christian December Worley, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 20-065-143

• A Sig Sauer P226 .40 caliber handgun, a Phoenix Arms Raven .25 caliber handgun, and a Stoeger Coach 12 gauge shotgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 5000 block of Bass Place, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., and 27-year-old Troy Delmar Payton, of Southeast, D.C., and 38-year-old Calvin Lee Jenkins, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Entry, Receiving Stolen Property, and Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business. • A Taurus PT140 Pro Millennium .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4400 block of Falls Terrace, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Melik Terrell, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Receiving Stolen Property. CCN: 20-065-702

• A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun and a 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun were recovered in the 1300 block of Orren Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Rashun Proctor, of Northeast, D.C., and 26-year-old Robert Lee Smith, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Burglary One, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. • A Taurus PT1911 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1700 block of 28^th Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-066-205

• A Jennings Long Horn J-22 .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Raum Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 20-066-194

• A Glock 17 BB gun was recovered in the 3000 block of Naylor Road, Southeast. CCN: 20-066-005

• A Ruger ECS9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2900 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Antonio Ricardo Muschetta, of Capitol Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol while Impaired, Receive/Possess a Firearm with Obliterated/Removed/Altered Serial Number, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Driving under Influence, and Operating while Impaired. • A Springfield Armory XD-9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4700 block of C Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Costello Coleman, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Fugitive from Justice. • A .357 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun and a Century Arms Canik TP9SA 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 2000 block of Ridgecrest Court, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Michael Anthony Young, of Hyattsville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession with Intent to Distribute while Armed. The following people were arrested: 34-year-old Diego Alejandro Gutierrez, of Southeast, D.C., and 20-year-old Damond Brown, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. • A Springfield Arms XD45 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4400 block of Falls Terrace, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Jean Robert Jean Baptiste, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Bryco 38 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 47-year-old Andrew Black, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Police Officer, and Felon in Possession. • A Kel-Tec PF9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3400 block of 22^nd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Jamal Dion Gilmore, of Mt. Rainier, MD, for Assault on a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Fugitive from Justice, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Destruction of Property. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Kenneth Kendrel Allen, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun and a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 4900 block of G Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 29-year-old Deandre Simms, of Southeast, D.C., and 21-year-old Isreal Antonio Jones, Jr., of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, No Permit, and Receiving Stolen Property. • A Taurus PT111 G2 Millennium Pro 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of 36^th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Alec Gregory Robinson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, No Permit, and Counterfeit Tags. • A Smith & Wesson 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Rashad Davon Walker, of Waldorf, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Entry. • A Glock 17 Gen4 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Trenton Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Victor Bernard Davis, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Bench Warrant, and Parole Violation. CCN: 20-067-454

• A Glock .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Kevin F. Delcid, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Springfield Armory XD 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-067-618

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
