Agents from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on Friday, November 8, 2019, in the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast.
At approximately 6:42 pm, an off-duty uniformed officer was working part-time employment at the listed location when the officer encountered several individuals. At least one of the individuals was armed with a firearm. Fearing for his safety, the officer discharged his department issued firearm. An adult male and a teenage male were both struck by gunfire and were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The off-duty officer was not injured and has been placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy.
