MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: September 30, 2019 to October 7, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, September 30, 2019, through Monday, October 7, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 31 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

  • A Springfield Arms XDS-45 APC .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1100 block of First Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Mark Anthony Franklin, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession. CCN: 19-175-374

 

 

  • A Colt M-1991A1 Series 80 .45mm caliber handgun and a Ruger P95 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1700 block of Capitol Avenue, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 26-year-old Donneisha Ricarda Odomes, of Southwest, D.C., and 19-year-old Arbreyell Sonyi Bethea, of Temple Hills, MD for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. Wednesday, October 2, 2019

  • A Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3600 block of Benning Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Khalil Grooms, of Northwest, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. Thursday, October 3, 2019

  • A Kahr K-9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3200 block of Benning Road, Northeast. CCN: 19-176-440

 

 

  • A Cobra Enterprises .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old James Rice, of Southeast, D.C., for Failure to Obey an Officer, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Obliterate, Remove, Change or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Resisting Arrest.   • A Ruger .357 caliber revolver was recovered in the 5000 block of A Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-176-226

  • A Kahr Arms CW380 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of 19th Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 45-year-old Eugene Donnell Warner, of Northeast, D.C., and 28-year-old Reyshad Septien Barclift, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Taurus Millennium PT145 Pro .45 caliber handgun and a HK MP5 .22 caliber handgun were recovered in the 600 block of Mellon Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-176-798

  • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Trevon Robinson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm. CCN: 19-177-055

 

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of Trinidad Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 40-year-old Jerome Curtis Earles, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Carrying Excessive Amounts of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest.   • A Glock 29 .10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of Crittenden Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Tony Devon Jones, of Northwest, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property, and Felon in Possession.   • A US Revolver Company .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 3100 block of 12th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old David Samuel McCoy, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-177-539

 

  • A Taurus Millennium G2 9mm caliber handgun and a Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 1400 block of Bangor Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 23-year-old Trayvon Strong, of Southeast, D.C., 21-year-old Davon Sullivan, of Southeast, D.C., 22-year-old Dalonta Jackson, of Southeast, D.C., and 24-year-old Erin Sheffey, of Southeast, D.C., for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Destruction of Property Less Than $1000, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Leaving After Colliding, and Felon in Possession. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Jorge Jose Sweet, of Southeast, D.C., for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Felon in Possession.   • A Laser-25 Auto .25 caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of Division Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Kevin Tyrone Vandyke, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Felon in Possession.   • A Kel-Tec P111 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4600 block of
    South Capitol Street, Southwest.
    The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Tony Singletary, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Resisting Arrest. CCN: 19-178-094

 

  • A Smith & Wesson Magnum .357 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2500 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 42-year-old Gary Neclos, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • An SCCY CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Elmer Josue Rodriguez Aleman, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol while Impaired, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm.   • A Mossberg International Inc. 715P .22 caliber assault rifle (pictured below) was recovered in the 1900 block of M Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Moises Alexander Delcid, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, Felon in Possession, and Fugitive from Justice. CCN: 19-178-623

 

 

  • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 54-year-old Melvin Walter Thomas, of Arlington, VA, for Carrying a Pistol – Prior Felony, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Failure to Register a Firearm.   • A Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Raleigh Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-178-868

 

Monday, October 7, 2019

  • A Springfield Armory XD9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 600 block of Morton Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. CCN: 19-179-433

 

 

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of V Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Davon Dabney, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 19-179-306

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
