MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: October 7, 2019 to October 14, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, October 7, 2019, through Monday, October 14, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 37 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, October 8, 2019

  • A Smith & Wesson 10 .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2100 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-179-939

 

  • A Ruger P91DC .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3200 block of 28th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 42-year-old Laron Amos Plowden, of Southwest, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.   • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of 2nd Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-179-815

 

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3600 block of Jay Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-180-090

 

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5200 block of Sheriff Road, Northeast. CCN: 19-180-056

 

  • A Diamondback Arms 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Newton Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Franciso Roche, of Hyattsville, MD, for Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-180-087

 

  • A .380 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2400 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 19-180-106

 

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P 45 .177 caliber BB gun was recovered in the 300 block of L Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Calvin Jerome Wyatt, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. CCN: 19-179-987

 

Wednesday, October 9, 2019

  • A Glock 36 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of Oakwood Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Kyle R. Culbreath, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. CCN: 19-180-184

 

  • A Walther PSS M2 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Bryan Dandre Baylor, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Receiving Stolen Property.   • A Taurus PT-22 .22 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4900 block of Nash Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Nathaniel Shepard, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Destruction of Property.   • A Glock 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace, Northeast. CCN: 19-180-598

 

  • A Glock 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of 24th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Dajohn Blunt, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of a Firearm during a Crime of Violence.   • A Taurus G26 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 800 block of Division Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Absconding. CCN: 19-181-032

 

 

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun and a Taurus Millennium Pro PT145 .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 2300 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Antone Whitaker, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Prisoner Escape, and Resisting Arrest. Friday, October 11, 2019

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 300 block of O Street, Southwest. The following people were arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., and a 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.   • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun, a Beretta .40 caliber handgun, and a Hi-Point S&W 4095 rifle were recovered in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Eugene Butler, of Southeast, D.C., 23-year-old Daquade Morton, of Southeast, D.C., and 25-year-old Maciala Richmond, of Temple Hills, MD, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1100 block of 5th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Deshawn Watkins, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun and a Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 400 block of Ridge Road, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 28-year-old Angelo Albert Crosson, of Northwest, D.C., and 29-year-old Ezra Kadeem Griffith, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Sig Sauer P226 9mm caliber handgun and a Spikes Tactical AR-15 .223mm caliber rifle were recovered in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Joshua Taber, of Alexandria, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Carrying a Rifle/Shotgun outside the Home, Carrying an Excessive Amount of Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and False Impersonation of a Police Officer while Armed. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
