Monday, July 28, 2025, to Sunday, August 3, 2025 

    

(Washington, D.C.) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets.  From Monday, July 28, 2025, through Sunday, August 3, 2025, MPD detectives and officers recovered 59 firearms in the District of Columbia.     

 Note: This is not a comprehensive list of all guns recovered in the District of Columbia.

Monday, July 28, 2025 

  • A Glock 27 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Eighth Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Deshaun Eugene Hood, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol (Prior Felony) and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-113-939  

  • A SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast.  CCN: 25-113-971 

  • A Kel-Tec PLR-16 5.56 caliber assault rifle was recovered in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Drico Daquan Griffin, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Prohibited Possession of Certain Dangerous Weapons, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, National Firearms Act, and Possession of a Large Capacity of Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-238 

  • A shotgun was recovered in the 5100 block of Astor Place, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 55-year-old Robert Lee Miles, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 25-114-264 

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3500 block of Sixth Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Eric Monte Wood, of Southwest, D.C., for National Firearms Act, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Fugitive from Justice, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-343 

  • A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Jalen Michael Jones, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License.  CCN: 25-114-387 

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield EZ 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 5200 block of Just Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Aaron Jamal Weaver, of Laurel, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 25-114-449

Tuesday, July 29, 2025  

  • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of H Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Delante Anthony Batts, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-533 

  • A Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Marion Barry Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Delvin Cook, Jr., of Temple Hills, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-604 

  • A Garaysar Fear-118 12-gauge shotgun was recovered in the 4400 block of E Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 74-year-old John Henry Parker, of Southeast, D.C., for Threats to do Bodily Harm, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 25-114-605 

  • A Palmetto PA-15 assault rifle was recovered in the 800 block of Barnaby Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Jeremiah Taylor, of Southeast, D.C., for Sexual Abuse, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-659 

  • A Kimber Micro 9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.  CCN: 25-114-693 

  • A Smith & Wesson SD9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 7800 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 35-year-old John Walden, III, of Petersburg, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Bench Warrant, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-735 

  • A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1800 block of T Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Darren Nixon, of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-852 

  • A Hi-Point 995 9mm caliber handgun and a Diamondback DB-15 5.56 caliber rifle were recovered in the 2900 block of Ellicott Terrace, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Julius Jalil-Iaquan Gathers, of Woodbridge, VA, for Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Unlawful Manufacturing/Possession/Transportation of a Semi-Automatic Rifle, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-114-907

  • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast.  The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Dimari Gilchrist, of Glen Burnie, MD, and 20-year-old Daniele Wilson, of White Plains, MD, for Burglary One, Assault with Intent to Commit any other Offense, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Robbery, Unlawful Discarding of Firearms/Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-115-056

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Wayne Samuel Lee, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle – Crime of Violence, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle, No Permit, Leaving after Colliding – Property Damage, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-115-148 

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2600 block of Jasper Street, Southeast.  CCN: 25-115-184

  • A Smith & Wesson 64-5 .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 1600 block of K Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Robert Hawkins, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and False Representation of Authority to Practice.  CCN: 25-115-406 

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the Unit block of N Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Alexandria, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-115-630 

  • A Ruger P-95 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Peter Craig, of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-115-667

  • A Palmetto State Armory Dagger Compact 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Justin Mykl Baylor, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-116-041 

  • A .357 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1000 block of 17th Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Antwan Frank Hines, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Unlawful Discarding of Firearms/Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-116-057

Sunday, August 3, 2025  

  • A Stoeger STR-9SC 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of N Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Carlos Enrique Marquez Ventura, of Woodbridge, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-117-500 

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Galveston Street, Southwest.  The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Tra’shawn Fauntroy, of District Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Prohibited Possession of Certain Dangerous Weapons, Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Police Officer, Consumption of Marijuana in Public Space Prohibited, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-117-728 

  • A Winchester 94-AE 30-30 rifle and a Sig Sauer SP-2022 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the Unit block of Galveston Street, Southwest.  The following person was arrested: 47-year-old Lionel Ricardo Avent, of Southwest, D.C. for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 25-117-812 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from D.C. streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community.  The responsibility to recover illegal firearms falls on the shoulders of all MPD officers.  We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods. 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers illegal firearms with the assistance of anonymous is made through MPD’s anonymous tips line.  Anyone who has information regarding illegal firearms should call police at 202-727-9099.  Additionally, information can be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  In an effort to incentivize community members to assist law enforcement, any information, to include anonymous tips, will be rewarded up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest of an individual and seizure of an illegal firearm.
