(Washington, D.C.) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, April 14, 2025, through Monday, April 21, 2025, MPD detectives and officers recovered 49 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Monday, April 14, 2025

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun, a BB gun, a Sig Sauer P-220 .45 caliber handgun, a Diamondback Arms .300 caliber handgun, a Century Arms Micro Draco 7.62x39mm caliber assault rifle, a Palmetto Armory PA-15 assault rifle, a 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun, and a “Ghost Gun” assault rifle were recovered in the 4300 block of Fourth Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Kivarrie Green, of Southeast, D.C., 19-year-old Roger Morgan, of Southeast, D.C., 26-year-old Derrick Morgan, of Southeast, D.C., and 21-year-old Robert Matthews, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, and Possession with a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Eric Jospeh, of Hyattsville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2500 block of Sheridan Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 49-year-old Andre Foster, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Sig Sauer P-228 9mm caliber handgun and a Kel-tec Sub-2000 9mm caliber rifle were recovered in the 1300 block of Oates Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Steven Nix, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, No Permit, Obliterate, Remove, Change, or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm, Leaving after Colliding – Property Damage, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus Millennium PT-111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of 11th Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 31-year-old Shayquan Law, of Fredericksburg, VA, and 28-year-old James Parker, of Bowling Green, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of Q Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 20-year-old Jayquan Dallas Johnson, of Northeast, D.C., and 21-year-old John Dallas Gear, IV, of Northwest, D.C., for Armed Carjacking, Robbery, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Zyon Jayshawn Collins, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm during a Crime of Violence, Receiving Stolen Property, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon outside a Home or Business, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Sig Sauer P-365 9mm caliber handgun and a Colt DA-38 .38 caliber revolver were recovered in the 3300 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Kendall William Keeling, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 25-055-241
  • A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of Varney Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Shaquan Moore, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Serial Number Removed/Obliterated), Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Police Officer (Simple Assault), and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Forrester Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Kavon Marcus Robinson, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from D.C. streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover illegal firearms falls on the shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

Metropolitan Police Department also recovers illegal firearms with the assistance of anonymous is made through MPD’s anonymous tips line. Anyone who has information regarding illegal firearms should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information can be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. In an effort to incentivize community members to assist law enforcement, any information, to include anonymous tips, will be rewarded up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest of an individual and seizure of an illegal firearm.
