MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:

June 3, 2019 to June 10, 2019

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, June 3, 2019, through Monday, June 10, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 28 firearms in the District of Columbia.

 

Note: This is not a comprehensive list of all guns recovered in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, June 4, 2019

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun and a Hanover Arms .233 caliber rifle (both pictured below) were recovered in the 4500 block of Douglas Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Joevontae Ramsey, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Carrying a Rifle without a License, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. Wednesday, June 5, 2019

  • A Glock 30 Gen4 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Reginald Lee Hopps, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Sig Sauer BB gun was recovered in the 6000 block of 13th Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-097-858

 

Thursday, June 6, 2019

  • A Sig Sauer SP2022 .9mm caliber handgun and an Intratec 9 .9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1500 block of 25th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Georgio Hyles, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 19-098-199
  • A Jimenez Arms .9mm caliber handgun and a Masterpiece Arms .9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Brandon Coleman, of Northeast, D.C., and 32-year-old Benjamin Michael Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.   • A Glock 19 .6mm caliber BB gun was recovered in the 1700 block of Lincoln Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Caleb Chancellor Lavender, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of a BB gun and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-098-085
  • A Glock .9mm handgun with laser sight and a Glock .9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 4500 block of Bowen Road, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 18-year-old Shania Brennan Otero, of Southeast, D.C., 20-year-old Tijuan Colbert, of Capitol Heights, MD, 19-year-old Marquet Boatwright, of District Heights, MD, and 19-year-old Skyy Diggs, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, National Firearms Act, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Criminal Negligence.   • A Crossman 357 Air Pistol was recovered in the 4200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 19-098-290

 

Friday, June 7, 2019

  • A Taurus 709 Slim .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Raheem Snider, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 19-098-907
  • An Israel Military Industries Uzi .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2800 block of 12th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Kiyon Antonio Boyd, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Possession of a Firearm during a Crime of Violence, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Smith & Wesson SD40 VE .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of Division Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Anwar Gore, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Titan Tiger .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 1300 block of Irving Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Romichael Carroll, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Destructive Device, and Carrying a Pistol without a License.   • A Smith & Wesson SD40 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-099-834
  • A BB gun was recovered in the 1700 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Aftabjit Singh, of no fixed address, for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a BB gun, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. CCN: 19-099-936
  • A German 60V .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of Trenton Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Steven Nathaniel Phillips, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Glock 17 .9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1400 block of Howard Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-100-422

  • A Springfield Armory 1911 A1 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 40-year-old Rodrick Demon Brumfield, of Clinton, MD, for Driving under the Influence, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 19-100-205
  • A Glock 19 .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1800 block of Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Dawun Lasteven Gravette, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License – Gun Free Zone, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • An HR handgun, a Beeman Air gun, and a ROHM revolver were recovered in the 1700 block of Park Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-100-903
  • A Colt .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 6000 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 19-101-192
  • A Springfield ACP .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4600 block of South Capitol Street, Southwest. CCN: 19-101-276
  • A Springfield XD9 .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2900 block of 2nd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Michael D. Packer, of Temple Hills, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information June be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
