Arrest Made in a Kidnapping and Robbery (Fear) Offense: 4800 Block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced an arrest has been made in reference to a Kidnapping and Robbery (Fear) offense that occurred on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the 4800 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

 

At approximately, 3:10 am, the suspects forced the victim, who is a ride share driver, into the victim’s car against his will at the listed location. The suspects then forced the victim to drive to an ATM and withdraw US currency. The suspects took the US currency then fled the scene.

 

On Wednesday, June 05, 2019, 38 year-old Derrick Wayne Vaughn, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Kidnapping and Robbery (Fear).

 

This case remains under investigation. Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Crime Solvers of Washington, DC currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
