Arrest Made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Screwdriver) Offense: 1800 Block of M Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Screwdriver) offense that occurred on Friday, May 10, 2019, in the 1800 block of M Street, Northwest

At approximately 7:16 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a screwdriver and stabbed the victim. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and refused medical treatment.

On Friday, May 10, 2019, 31 year-old Etsegenet Yohannes Akalu, of Bethesda, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Screwdriver).
