Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in the 4000 block of Hayes Street, Northeast.
At approximately 4:10 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and fired at the victim. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.
On Monday, July 1, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 51 year-old Mercedes Benz Edmonds, of Capitol Heights, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
