Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bottle) offense that occurred on Sunday, May 26, 2019, in the 1800 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 11:32 pm, the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation at the listed location. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a broken bottle and cut the victim. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers. The victim was treated on the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday, May 27, 2019, 65 year-old Sylvia Fernanders, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bottle).
