The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a shooting suspect in Southeast.
On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at approximately 1:47 a.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to the 3400 block of 15th Street, Southeast, for the report of gunshots. The preliminary investigation revealed that an argument among individuals known to one another escalated into a physical altercation before the group scattered. A suspect later returned to the location and shot two victims.
DC Fire and EMS transported an adult male and an adult female to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigative efforts, Seventh District detectives gathered information and developed leads that identified the suspect.
On August 17, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 33-year-old Candice Keishaun Philpot, of Southeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
