Sean Connors currently serves at the commander of the Third District. He oversees the eight Police Service Areas in the Third District, which is located in the Northwest quadrant near the center of the city. Police Chief Pamela A Smith promoted Connors to commander of the Third District on May 14, 2024.
Sean Connors began his career with the Metropolitan Police Department as a patrol officer in 2009, when he was assigned to PSA 603 in the Sixth District. In the summer of 2012, Connors was assigned to the Sixth District Crime Suppression Team, which was focused on addressing robberies in the 6th District, using crime density analysis and working as a team to recover illegal firearms. In the fall of 2012, Connors was detailed to the Robbery Intervention Program, based out of the MPD's Intelligence Division. It was a highly successful unit that reduced the number robberies in target locations; recovered a large quantity of illegal firearms; and arrested several repeat offenders.
In July 2014, Connors was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the Second District. In addition to patrolling in PSA 208 and learning about a different part of the District of Columbia, Connors was assigned as a supervisor to a Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) tasked with protecting individuals First Amendment rights and working large events.
After being promoted to lieutenant in 2018, Connors moved to Fourth District and was assigned to PSA 409. There he completed and executed crime plans, managed the day-to-day operations of the PSA, engaged with the community through meetings and public events, and worked with the community stakeholders to create the safest community possible. In September of 2018, Connors was assigned to lead the Fourth District Crime Suppression Team where he developed a team that would reduce violent crime within the Fourth District. In April 2019, Connors was assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit, where he worked until being promoted to captain that November.
As a captain, Connors spent time in the Sixth District before being assigned to the Intelligence Division as the liaison to the National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium (NTIC) from May-October 2021. He spent the next year managing the Violent Crime Suppression Division's Operation Branch and assisted with the implementation and managing of the Tactical Information Center (TIC). In September 2022, Connors moved to the Metropolitan Police Academy as the assistant director.
Connors was promoted to inspector of the Fourth District and Substation in January 2024.
Commaner Sean Connors is a graduate of Frostburg State University. He has received numerous awards during his time with Metropolitan Police Department.
