Wanted Suspect Sought in an Assault with Significant Bodily Injury, Second Degree Cruelty to Children and a Cruelty to Animals Offense: 2700 Block of Douglass Road, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District seek the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in reference to multiple offenses that occurred on Friday, September 27, 2019, in the 2700 block of Douglass Road, Southeast.

 

At approximately 3:00 am, the suspect and an adult female victim were involved in a verbal altercation, inside a residence, at the listed location. During the altercation, the suspect physically assaulted the victim. The suspect also assaulted the victim’s dog as well as a juvenile female. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The adult and juvenile victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital. The victim’s dog succumbed to the injuries inflicted on her by the suspect.

 

Further investigation by the detectives revealed that this incident is domestic in nature.

 

Seventh District Detectives have obtained a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for 35 year-old Delonte Mitchell, of Southeast, DC, for Assault with Significant Bodily Injury and Second Degree Cruelty to Children. Mitchell was last seen driving a 2015 Silver Hyundai Sonata, with a Virginia tag number of VXJ7129.
