Traffic Fatalities: Intersection of 13th Street and Alabama Avenue, Southeast

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating two traffic fatalities involving two vehicles that occurred on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at the intersection of 13th Street and Alabama Avenue, Southeast.

 

At approximately 11:29 pm, the operator of a Honda Accord was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on 13th Street, Southeast.  The vehicle entered the intersection of 13th Street and Alabama Avenue, Southeast, against a red traffic signal.  A Range Rover traveling eastbound on Alabama Avenue, Southeast, entered the intersection and struck the Honda Accord.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that the operator and a passenger of the Honda Accord displayed no signs consistent with life. The victims remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  Two other passengers in the Honda Accord and the operator of the Range Rover were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

The decedents have been identified as 32 year-old Michael Hutcherson, of Columbia, MD, and 34 year-old Seret Medhani, of Southeast, DC.

 

This case remains under investigation.
