TRAFFIC ADVISORY: 2019 Rolling Thunder

The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of street closures and Emergency No Parking in conjunction with the 2019 Rolling Thunder event on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

 

The following street will be closed on Sunday, May 26, 2019, from approximately 10:30 am to 4:00 pm:

 

• Constitution Avenue, NW from 23^rd Street, NW to 3^rd Street, NW
• Independence Avenue, SW from 3^rd Street, SW to 23^rd Street, SW
• 23^rd Street, NW from Constitution Avenue, NW to Memorial Bridge
• 3^rd Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 4^th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 7^th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 9^th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• The 9^th Street Tunnel
• 12^th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 12^th Street Tunnel
• 14^th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 14^th Street Bridge (north on 14^th Street/lanes to eastbound 395/695 will remain open)
• 15^th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 17^th Street from New York Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 18^th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 19^th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 20^th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 21^st Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 23^rd Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

 

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking on Sunday, May 26, 2019, approximately from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm:

 

• Constitution Avenue, NW from 23^rd Street, NW to 3^rd Street, NW
• 23^rd Street, NW from Constitution Avenue, NW to Memorial Bridge
• 3^rd Street, NW from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue SW
• Independence Avenue, SW from 3^rd Street, SW to 23^rd Street, SW

 

The public should expect parking restrictions along the entire parade route and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked along the route and in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticked and towed.

 

Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events. These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.
