Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a third arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred in the 4700 block of Benning Road, Southeast on Saturday, January 20, 2018.
At approximately 1:00 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male, inside of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent was identified as 29 year-old Kenneth Poindexter, of Southeast, DC.
On Tuesday, April 09, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 22 year-old Sean McKenzie, of Southeast, DC. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
Previously on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of NSID’s Gun Recovery Unit arrested a 22 year-old male, of Capitol Heights, MD. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
Additionally on February 28, 2018, a 26-year-old male, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed in connection with this case.
