Suspect Sought in a Homicide: 200 Block of M Street, Southwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the 200 block of M Street, Southwest.

 

At approximately 8:34 am, members of the First District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male inside of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Investigation at the scene suggested the shooting occurred inside of the residence.

 

The decedent has been identified as 16 year-old Domonique Franklin, of Southeast, DC.

 

The suspect, pictured below, has been identified as 17 year-old Jwhan Simpson. He is described as a black male, medium build, 5’8” in height, weighing approximately 125 pounds, with brown eyes. Simpson is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, charging him as an adult, with First Degree Murder while Armed.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
