Suspect Sought in an Assault on a Police Officer (Felony) Offense: Area of Benning Road and Minnesota Avenue, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to an Assault on a Police Officer (Felony) offense that occurred on Friday, January 10, 2020, in the area of Benning Road and Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

 

Shortly before 6:00 pm, while assisting the DC Housing Authority Police during a traffic stop in the area of Benning Road and Minnesota Avenue Northeast, a Sixth District MPD officer was struck by the operator of a stolen vehicle not involved in the initial traffic stop. The officer sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

 

After striking the officer, the stolen vehicle fled and was recovered in close proximity to the scene. One subject was taken into custody by responding officers, while two suspects remain at-large. The investigation into the incident and the search for the suspects remains ongoing.
