Second Arrest Made in a Homicide: 700 Block of 14th Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced a second arrest has been made in reference to a fatal stabbing that occurred on Sunday, April 28, 2019, in the 700 block of 14th Street, Southeast.

 

At approximately 11:42 pm, members of the First District and the Metro Transit Police Department responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an unconscious adult male, suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent has been identified as 40-year-old Jamal Ferrell, of Southeast, DC.

 

On Friday, June 21, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) arrested 19 year-old Xavier Dontrell Culbreth, of Southeast, DC. Culbreth was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.

 

Previously, on Thursday, June 6, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, an 18 year-old female, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. As a result of the detective’s investigation, she was also charged with First Degree Murder - Felony Murder.
