Northwest Shooting Leaves Man Dead

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Northwest, D.C.

On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a local hospital for the report of a shooting victim seeking treatment. Despite all life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Dekhota Evans, of Northeast, DC.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim was transported to the hospital in a vehicle, by unknown persons, after being shot at approximately 6:06 a.m. in the 500 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
