Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, April 1, 2024, through Monday, April 8, 2024, MPD detectives and officers recovered 38 firearms in the District of Columbia.

• A Pumpmaster 760 .177 caliber BB gun was recovered in the 3300 block of Idaho Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 24-048-858

 

Tuesday, April 2, 2024

• A Taurus 380 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 24-049-160

• A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun and a Norinco Draco MAK90 Sporter 7.62x.39mm caliber assault rifle were recovered in the 2200 block of Hartford Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 26-year-old Rasheed Mullins, of Southeast, D.C., 23-year-old Josiah Warfield, of Southwest, D.C., and 30-year-old Marcus Travis Adams, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Destruction of Property, and Carrying a Pistol without a License – Gun Free Zone. • A FI Industries Helwan 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Florida Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Nathaniel Anthony Daniel, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Receiving Stolen Property. • A Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of 10^th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Tyerail Massenburg, of Richmond, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Driving under the Influence, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3100 block 16^th Street, Northwest. CCN: 24-049-540

• A Glock 20 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Somerset Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Inten to Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 29 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Paul Demonte Williams, of District Heights, MD, for Fugitive from Justice, Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun and a Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 800 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 24-year-old Sara Kassahun, of Silver Spring, MD, and 28-year-old Jonas Seyoum, of Alexandria, VA, for Unlawful Entry, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. • A Glock 29 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of N Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 40-year-old Ramone Anthony Thomas, of Southwest, D.C., for Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol and Pistol License Violation. CCN: 24-050-412

• A Glock 23 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of 19^th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Auzae Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Fugitive from Justice, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Remington Arms 2036 double barrel shotgun and a Remington Arms 870 shotgun were recovered in the 5100 block of Second Street, Northwest. CCN: 24-050-433

• A Springfield Armory XD-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of Benign Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Darius Yarnell Price, of Forestville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 45 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 36-year-old Romen Nde, of Baltimore, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and False Impersonation of a Police Officer. • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 1600 block Holbrook Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Carless Schuler, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. • A Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of A Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 45-year-old Austin McLean Rhodes, of Sterling, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession on an Open Container of Alcohol, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, No Permit, Counterfeit Tags, Counterfeit Vehicle Documents, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Maduro Allen Martin, II, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, Consumption of Marijuana in a Public Space Prohibited, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of 18^th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Antonio Myles, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 36-year-old Walter Ortiz Alvarez, of New Carrolton, MD, for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving under the Influence, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unlawful Manufacturing/Possession/Transportation of a Semi-automatic Rifle, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Glock 48 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Jefferson Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Brandon Everton Eldemire, of District Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Lewd, Indecent, or Obscene Acts, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Springfield Armory Hellcat 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of Burbank Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Donte Hawkins, of Triangle, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from D.C. streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover illegal firearms falls on the shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

Metropolitan Police Department also recovers illegal firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding illegal firearms should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information can be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. In an effort to incentivize community members to assist law enforcement, any tip information, to include anonymous tips, will be rewarded up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest of an individual and seizure of an illegal firearm.
