The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting in Southeast.
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 8:52 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 3000 block of P Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving efforts failed the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 56-year-old Richard Walker, of Southeast, DC.
Sixth District Officers located and detained the suspect at the scene. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 51-year-old Shawnta Aiken of Southeast, D.C., was placed under arrest and charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed. This case is domestic in nature.
