The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect who shot a man in Northwest.
On Friday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 6:03 p.m., Third District officers responded to the 200 block of W Street, Northwest for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting but no victim. A short time later, an adult male victim walked into an area hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
The detectives located video footage of the shooting showing the suspect shooting in the direction of the victim. This evidence led to the identification of the suspect. The suspect, 23-year-old Darius Jason Brown, of Northwest, DC, was located and arrested. He was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
