The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a Northeast shooting.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, at approximately 11:02 p.m., the suspect was riding a bike following an unknown victim in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. The suspect produced a firearm and shot in the direction of the unknown victim. An uninvolved adult female standing on the sidewalk was struck by the gunfire. The suspect fled the scene on a bike. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The first victim did not call police and was not on the scene once police arrived.
On Friday, April 24, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 23-year-old Serrel Wagoner of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
