The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in an assault that occurred in Northwest.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a suspect brandished a knife during a dispute inside of a business in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. A second victim intervened, and the suspect cut the second victim. The suspect then fled the location.
Third District officers responding to the scene were able to locate the suspect and recovered a knife. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. DC Fire and EMS responded and treated the second victim on scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
45-year-old Sarita Middleton, of Southeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
