The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces an arrest made in a shooting that occurred in March in Northwest.

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 4:38 a.m., the suspect and an unknown individual were involved in an argument in the 1900 block of 8th Street, Northwest. The argument escalated when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot a round into the ground. A portion of the projectile struck an innocent bystander who was standing at a bus stop in the 700 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant 34-year-old Marcellus Williams of Oxon Hill, MD was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
