MPD Investigating Southeast Homicide

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting in Southeast.

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 4:12 a.m., a Seventh District officer discovered a vehicle partially parked on the sidewalk at the intersection of Stanton Road and Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. The officer approached the vehicle and discovered an adult male unconscious and not breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS were called to the scene, and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead on scene.

The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Christian Elsberry of Clinton, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
