MPD Investigating Southeast Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a double shooting that left one man dead in Southeast.

On February 11, 2025, at approximately 2:44 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a residential building in the 2000 block of 19th Place, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Officers located two adult males, conscious and breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite all lifesaving efforts, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Aaron Thomas Jr., of Owings Mills, Maryland.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
