The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northwest.
On Monday, September 16, 2024, at approximately 4:36 a.m., officers responded for the report of a shooting in the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene. After finding no signs consistent with life, the man was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Ifeanyi Maximus of Bladensburg, MD.
