MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred in Southeast.

On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Upsal Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers were informed a victim was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital after all lifesaving efforts failed.

The decedent has been identified at 32-year-old Anthony Willis, of Northwest.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
