MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Southeast

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Southeast.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 7:03 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 4500 block of Benning Road, Southest. Officers located an adult male shooting victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Jackson of Southeast.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
