MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Northwest

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Northwest.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at approximately 9:24 p.m., Third District officers responded to the 600 block of O Street, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Officers located two men on the scene, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS transported both men from the scene to a local hospital where after all lifesaving efforts failed, one man was pronounced dead. The second man received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A third man self-transported to a local hospital where he was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 34-year-old Deangelo Jones of Northwest.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
