The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Northeast.
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at approximately 7:07 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 100 block of 45th Street, Northeast, inside of an apartment, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who was unconscious and not breathing, suffering from trauma to his body. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene. Despite all lifesaving efforts the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The decedent has been identified as 65-year-old Rodney Bennett, of Northeast, D.C. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
