MPD Arrests Suspect in Southwest Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a shooting that occurred in Southwest.

On Monday, June 2, 2025, at approximately 1:23 p.m., First District officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest. Officers located an adult male, conscious and breathing, suffering from a graze wound. DC Fire and EMS responded and transported the victim to local hospital for treatment.

Based on the preliminary investigation, two suspects began shooting near the Waterfront Metro station and fled the area before officers arrived. The adult male, who was struck by gunfire, is not believed to have been involved in the incident. A short time later, a suspect was detained, and a firearm was recovered.

25-year-old Daquan Toland of Northwest, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

This case remains under investigation and detectives are searching for two additional suspects in this case. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
